A porch pirate struck in the gated community of Highlands Creek off of Crews Lake Drive in Lakeland.
The responding deputy obtained security video which showed that the suspect vehicle was a black 2013 Chevy Equinox. The video also clearly showed the tag number of the Equinox. Booya!
The deputy contacted the registered owner, and she told the deputy that a man named Tyler was using her car for Doordash food deliveries. She apparently didn’t know he was also doing Grabdashes.
The deputy caught up with Tyler and he confessed to being the driver during the package theft, but he wasn’t the one who got out and stole the package. That suspect was identified as Dave.
Deputies went to Dave’s house on Idlewood Lane in Lakeland, and when they arrived, Dave shut the front door and refused to come out. Ill-mannered impertinence! The youth of today… His spurning of our deputies lasted for just a little while.
What changed his mind?
Our guess is that it had something to do with the arrival of Deputy Smith and his K-9 partner Duncan.
We think it must have been something Duncan said.
Tyler and Dave were charged with Burglary, Petit Theft, and Conspiracy to Commit Burglary.
