With Southeastern University as the backdrop, one by one, the first players and coaches for the new Lakeland Royals Basketball FBA (Florida Basketball Association) team signed their contracts forming the very first team for the New Lakeland Royals. It is history in the making because the Lakeland Royals owner, Amy Rhodes, is the first female and youngest ever owner of an FBA team.
There is a great deal of excitement surrounding the team. Coach Chop stated “I am excited about the potential of this new team.” Owner Amy Rhodes added “I anticipate great success with this team and coaching staff. I am very proud of them and I am excited to see what this season will bring.” I spoke with Mr Mark A King, FBA Chief Executive Officer who shares the teams enthusiasm. He stated that he was excited to have Amy on board and believes that, with her drive and commitment, she will have great success.
The Royals already seen success! They played in their first tournament a few weeks ago put on the the IBCK National Team and the Royals went undefeated and won the tournament!
