Pursuant to Section 403.077, F.S., the Department of Environmental Protection has received the following Public Notice of Pollution for a reportable release. Type of Notice: Initial Report Date of Notice: 01/11/2022 Incident Information Name of Incident: 2000 4th Street in Mulberry State Watch Office Case Number: 2022195 Start of Incident: 01/10/2022 10:00 AM End of Incident: 01/10/2022 11:15 AM Incident Description An investigation of the incident determined that during the diversion of flow between two clarifiers to balance flows efficiently, a valve was inadvertently opened allowing the Waste Activated Sludge (WAS) Splitter Box to drain into a manhole which was unable to accommodate the flow. The valve was immediately closed upon discovery of the overflow. An estimated 8,415 gallons WAS overflowed from the manhole onto the ground and 1,000 gallons of the discharge flowed into an on-site stormwater pond. No flow from the stormwater pond outlet was occurring or occurred during/following the incident. Approximately 5,400 gallons was recovered and properly disposed of according to regulatory requirements at 2:30 PM on January 10, 2022. Lime will be applied to the affected area for disinfection and sampling of the stormwater pond will occur on January 11, 2022. The discharge did not enter any surface water bodies and did not pose a potential risk to public health, safety, or welfare.
