On April 29 2021 FL Surgeon General Dr. Scott Rivkees issued a Public Health Advisory stating that continuing COVID-19 restrictions on individuals, including long-term use of face coverings, poses a risk of adverse and unintended consequences.
Much recent research throws into doubt the efficacy of cloth face coverings and especially facial shields for preventing the spread of COVID.
Since FL executive order 21-102 was signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis on May 3, 2021(and subsequently S82006) does the city of Lakeland, as a municipal government, still believe that they have the authority to impose a mask mandate / requirement?
It would seem that if they cannot impose this on individuals or businesses – that would seem to include employees – who are also individuals.
Should the most recent email on January 11, 2022 from city management to wear a mask be taken as non-compulsory advice?
Let’s couple this with the city bribing employees with two paid days off for those who show their vax papers by the end of January. What about those who have medical or religious reasons. Or who simply want to be fully informed before agreeing to put an unknown biological substance into their bodies.
As you know these mandates go against our constitutional freedoms. I will do my best to continue to fight for the freedom of all Lakeland citizens – and city employees are in that group.
Since the Fire Department and Police Department employee are employees of the city do they worn mask in vehicles and inside of building as the order from the City Manager states?
