A patient was admitted to the Hospital through ER was tested negative but 10 day later still in the hospital patient is COVID positive why????
The following is a statement from: Hal Escowitz, MD, Chief Quality Officer, and Chief Medical Informatics Officer
“At Lakeland Regional Health, the safety of our patients, team members and visitors is a top priority, and we have instituted a number of safety protocols during the pandemic. Some of those steps include having designated areas for patients with COVID-19, screening individuals and visitors for signs of fever or illness and implementing a limited visitor policy. Our engineering and environmental services teams are working continuously to maintain sterile environments with optimal air quality and the clinical teams are well versed in contemporary isolation protocols.”
All patients are initially screened prior to admission to our facility, however, determination of the origin of a positive Covid-19 infection is often highly complex. There are a number of factors that could result in a positive test result, including exposure to an infected but asymptomatic individual, a false result on a test, or the timing of the test in relation to the incubation period.
