The Lakeland Magic, NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, fell to the Texas Legends 141-133 at the Comerica Center.
The Magic faced the Texas Legends in a first of a back-to-back match on the road. The Texas Legends got off to a hot start behind forward Tyler Dorsey’s 30-point first half on 8-10 shooting from beyond the arch. The Legends not only shot the ball well, they also played with stifling defense stealing the ball 10 times in the half. Lakeland outscored the Legends 30-14 in the paint but still trailed 76-55 at the end of the half.
For most of the game the Legends kept their large lead until the Magic had a sparking end to the game, outscoring the Legends 41-26. Despite strong play from Jay Scrubb and Zavier Simpson, Lakeland was unable to make up the difference.
Scrubb finished with a team-high 25 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Simpson posted 24 points, eight assists, and five rebounds. Joel Ayayi added a near triple-double scoring 17 points,10 assists, and seven rebounds.
Dorsey had 39 points for the Legends. McKinley Wright IV also had 17 points, 14 assists, and seven rebounds. Jaden Hardy finished with 25 points.
The Lakeland Magic (3-4) will continue their road trip on Tuesday, November 22 against the Texas Legends at 8:00 PM on ESPN+.
