A little girl’s selfless Christmas wish was posted on a local Lakeland Facebook community page by her mother, Amanda Rivas.
Nine-year-old Kaylee Rivas had a lofty goal, to collect 100 plushies to donate this weekend to the patients at Scott Lake Rehabilitation Center in Lakeland. Kaylee said she didn’t want anything else for Christmas, just wanted to hand out the plushies. Another local family saw the online plea and sprang into action. Sisters Morgan and Gabriella Bridges knew after moving to Lakeland with bins and bins of plushies – that they could definitely donate 100 of them to make the little girl’s Christmas wish come true. They counted out 100 stuffed animals and met up with Kaylee to hand over the donation. Kaylee’s mom Amanda said Kaylee cried when she found out that a couple of strangers wanted to help her. Kaylee is excited to hand out the plushies while caroling at Scott Lake Rehabilitation this Sunday, December 18 at 10 am and hopes she can bring a smile to the faces of the residents.
