Espresso Martini

As a kid, I was super hyper. Like, climbing the walls hyper. Now let’s add to that my love for coffee which started when I was 5. My mom would let me finish her black coffee on the way to school every morning. My poor teachers! Many years later and my love for coffee is still alive and well although that natural energy is LONG gone.

Now that I am an adult I like to enjoy a cocktail after dinner but I don’t want to sacrifice
my beloved coffee! The perfect compromise? An Espresso Martini. This cocktail was
popular in the ’80s and ’90s, (probably to help my teachers cope) and is making a
comeback. It’s a little sweet, a little boozy, and offers a jolt of caffeine that coffee lovers can appreciate. Feel free to go caffeine-free for this recipe or add some sweet cream if you like.

2 oz vodka
1 oz coffee liquor. I prefer Starbucks Liquor
1 oz brewed espresso or cold brew coffee
½ oz simple syrup

  1. Grab your cocktail shaker and fill it halfway with ice. combine vodka,
coffee liquor, espresso, and simple syrup. Shake very well, until a layer of foam
develops on the surface of the liquid.
  2. Pour into a chilled martini glass (or realistically, your favorite tumbler) if you
want to get fancy, top with 3 coffee beans to garnish. Serve or drink immediately.
