The Irish Mimosa

According to irishcentral.com. there are 7 times more people of Irish ancestry in America than in Ireland! And on top of that, St. Patrick himself wasn’t even Irish! He was kidnapped as a teenager from his birthplace…. Brittan! And brought to Ireland as a slave! I can go on and on with facts about St. Patrick’s Day, but my point is, to quote Boondock Saints, “It’s St. Patrick’s Day, everyone is Irish!”

As you can probably guess, St. Patrick’s Day is one of my favorite holidays, and always has been. But it is especially fun as a bartender. Having said that, it can be a struggle to find a yummy green drink recipe that isn’t full of sugar or green food coloring. Okay. I’ll admit. There isn’t much Irish about this drink. But St. Patrick’s Day in America doesn’t exactly follow Irish traditions. And with only 3 ingredients, this green mimosa is easy to make in a large batch if you’re serving a crowd of friends and family.

Did you know, the famous Irish greeting “Top of the morning to ya” has a proper response? “And the rest of the day to yourself!” Okay, I’ll stop with the facts and get to the recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 2.5 oz Orange Juice
  • Splash Blue Curacao
  • 3 oz Champagne

Directions:

Pour orange juice into your champagne flute, add Blue Curacao, and fill it with champagne.

Boom! How easy way that!? And no one is leaving your party with green teeth from drinking food coloring! Sláinte!!
