The Brambler

I have so many childhood memories of ruining my clothes from picking wild blackberries. Nowadays I avoid the thorns, bugs, and occasional black bear by snagging the berries from my downtown farmer’s market whenever I can. I love the combination of blackberries and quality bourbon

The Brambler is pleasantly tart and smoky. The blackberries and lemon juice give a bite to the woody bourbon. Fresh squeezed orange juice adds a bit of sweetness that complements the vanilla notes of the rich brown liquor. Serving bourbon over ice releases more of the delicious, charred flavor of the oak barrels. This drink is certain to awaken the woodsman in us all.

  • Ingredients:
  • 2 oz Bourbon, I recommend Maker’s Mark 46
  • ¼ cup Blackberries muddled
  • ¼ cup Orange Juice
  • tsp Lemon Juice
  • oz Simple Syrup
  • or 4 dashes Orange Bitters

Combine all ingredients in a rocks glass over ice and give a good stir.
