Polk County residents are invited to adopt the newest furry member of their family this weekend. Polk County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control will host its first Adoptapalooza Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at its facility at 7115 De Castro Road, Winter Haven. All adoptions are free.

“We can’t believe that there are still people out there who don’t realize that Animal Control adopts out cats and dogs – and we do, every day,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said in a press release. Each animal that is adopted will be given its initial vaccinations, county license, and microchip ID and be either spayed or neutered free of charge. Existing pet owners will be able to receive low-cost vaccinations onsite offered by TLC Petsnip while supplies last. There will be food trucks and a craft market onsite.
