As of 5 p.m. Friday, Tropical Storm Cindy had sustained winds at 50 mph with gusts to 65 mph. The movement to the west-northwest increased to 16 mph. The latest barometric pressure reading was listed at 1003 mb.

Tropical Storm Cindy has a window of 24 hours to strengthen as it remains in a weaker-sheared environment. Storm winds are forecasted to pick up to 60 mph by Saturday morning. Past this strengthening window, shear will begin to increase from the northwest as the storm moves towards the upper-level trough, which is also weakening Tropical Storm Bret.
As Cindy moves closer to the trough, shear will increase and likely drier air will move in. This will lead to a continued weakening through the weekend and into next week. Cindy is forecast to become a remnant low in 4-5 days.
