National Hurricane Center is tracking tropical disturbance in the Caribbean, which could impact Florida next week

A tropical disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico is being monitored by the National Hurricane Center for possible development over the next week.

The NHC gives the disturbance a 30 percent chance of developing into a tropical system over the next 48 hours and a 70 percent chance of development over the next seven days.

Environmental conditions appear favorable for the gradual development of the system, forecasters with the NHC said Friday.
