Vehicle 1, a Kia SUV, was traveling westbound on Kokomo Road, west of US-17. Vehicle 1 overtook and collided with the rear of Vehicle 2, a Chevrolet truck.
Transported to an area hospital, Driver 1, a 25-year-old Davenport man, later expired from injuries suffered during the crash. Driver 2, a 43-year-old Winter Haven man, was uninjured.
