A 30-year-old Lakeland man passed away on Saturday night after going off the road in Wesley Chapel.
It was around 10:20 p.m., according to officials, when the man was driving a Mercedes SUV west in the outside lane of SR-56.
The driver entered the north shoulder of the road, east of Hueland Pond Boulevard, after failing to negotiate a curve, according to FHP.
The SUV allegedly crashed through a canal and struck a fence. Then, according to troopers, the vehicle took off and flipped multiple times before coming to a stop in a field.
The driver passed away at the crash scene, according to officials.
