A man was killed in an early morning crash on US 92 near Lakeland on Thursday.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened around 4:44 a.m. on US 92 at Old Dixie Highway, just west of Auburndale. Deputies said a man was hit by a vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene. The sheriff’s office didn’t say if the driver will face any charges.
Deputies said the crash will cause traffic issues for both travel lanes on US 92. Commuters may want to take an alternate route.
Westbound drivers can take Payne Street to K-Ville Avenue. Eastbound drivers can take Reynolds Road to Main Street to avoid the crash.
Additional information about the crash will be released sometime on Thursday.
