Our objective with any traffic enforcement is to reduce the number of traffic crashes, especially traffic fatalities. During any traffic stop, officers will also take action to investigate any other suspected criminal activity.
During last Friday’s MOVE OVER initiative, Lakeland Police officers issued a total of 116 citations and made 6 arrests (1 DUI, 1 felony arrest, 1 misdemeanor arrest, and 3 arrest warrants).
The driver arrested for Driving Under the Influence, Alexander Girouard of Lakeland, was initially stopped for traveling 133 mph in a construction zone on West Pipkin Road. Officers suspected Girouard was intoxicated and administered sobriety tests which led to his arrest. Girouard was also charged with Reckless Driving.
