It was sixty years ago this week that the Beatles played their first live appearances in the United States. They performed twice on the Ed Sullivan Show and played live concerts at the Washington Coliseum in Washington DC and at Carnegie Hall in New York. Ticket prices for the Washington and New York concerts ranged between $4.00 to $5.50.
These days used ticket stubs from these early shows sell for thousands of dollars. Last year a ticket from the first Ed Sullivan appearance sold at auction for $52,500.00!
