So many of the surface lots in the core of Downtown are privately owned. To better manage parking for their own employees and customers, private property owners have engaged a private parking management company.
These lots ARE monitored and tickets ARE being issued for parking violators, so be aware. Even nights and weekends (when City of Lakeland parking is FREE), these private lots are charging for parking.
For years and years, we’ve enjoyed using these privately owned lots for FREE. But these property owners certainly have every right to charge for use. Wear and tear along is an ongoing expense.
The costs vary by lot, and you must pay via a text system that is different from the PARKMOBILE system the city uses. But remember, the Main Street Garage is now open to the public for $1 /hr paid parking weekdays and free after 3pm and on weekends. That’s an added 200+ PUBLIC parking spaces available to the public at peak lunch time! And all CITY OWNED lots, garages and on street spaces are free after 5pm and all day weekends. Just look for the city logo when entering the lot.
If you get a ticket from one of these private lots, don’t call the City! It’s not their ticket and its not their enforcement. Following the instructions you receive in the mail.
