Two skydivers were injured Monday afternoon after making a “hard landing” in Lake Wales, according to the Lake Wales Police Department.
Three skydivers were found at about 3 p.m. in the area of Seminole Avenue and Wiltshire Avenue along Scenic Highway, police said. One of the skydivers was not injured. The other two were flown to hospitals, but are expected to be OK.
Witnesses told police that one person’s parachute appeared to be tangled while the other two appeared to be fine.
The skydivers were part of a group of 14 people who jumped from 14,500 feet to practice formations, according to police. The plane took off and landed at the Lake Wales Airport.
A few other skydivers landed off-course in nearby pastures, but no other injuries were reported.
