The Florida Air Museum, located on the Aerospace Center for Excellence campus, was designated as the “Official Aviation Museum and Education Center of the State of Florida” in 2002. It began life in 1986 as a “mini-museum” in the corner of what is now known as Hangar A. Since then, it has expanded its collection to include a variety of homebuilt aircraft, an aviation research library, and an extensive Howard Hughes collection supporting the Aerospace Center for Excellence’s mission to educate, engage, and accelerate the next generation of aerospace professionals.
Some of the more unique aircraft in the museum’s collection include a Convair F2Y Sea Dart, the Lockheed XFV Vertical Riser, and a Boeing 727.
