Judd controls Animal services and the numbers do not lie …… Why can’t you fix the issues, Grady Judd?
Polk County Animal Control January through April and they are pretty sad. 64% live release for dogs and 52% live release for cats. So basically 50% of the cats brought into animal control, 1 of every 2 cats, are killed.
Even with all the great work that the Polk County Bully Project does to save lives by pulling dogs from Animal Control, 1 of every 3 dogs, is killed.
One of the biggest stats that stands out to me every month is the Reunited with Owner numbers. Less than 21% of dogs who enter the shelter are returned to their owners and less than 4% of cats ever make it back home.
While we don’t know how much due diligence Animal Control does to reunite animals, it does not appear very successful. What is Diligence: steady, earnest, and energetic effort
