One person was killed in a Winter Haven crash involving a dump truck, according to police.
The Winter Haven Police Department said the crash happened just before 5:30 a.m. on Lucerne Park Road at Old Lucerne Park Road.
A dump truck and a car were involved in the crash.
Both directions of Lucerne Park Road at Old Lucerne Park Road are closed and being diverted down Old Lucerne Park Road, Winter Haven police said.
Drivers will see significant delays in the area and are encouraged to take alternate routes.
The Florida Highway Patrol will take over the investigation.
Vehicle 1, a Ford Fusion, driven by a 65-year-old Winter Haven man, was traveling southbound on Old Lucerne Park Road. Vehicle 2, a tractor-trailer, driven by a 60-year-old Hialeah man, was traveling westbound on Lucerne Park Road. At the intersection of the two roadways, Vehicle 1 turned left into the path of Vehicle 2. As a result, Vehicle 2 collided with the left side of Vehicle 1. Post-impact, both vehicles rotated to final rest along the south shoulder of the roadway with Vehicle 1 also impacting a utility pole. Driver 1 suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash while Driver 2 was uninjured.
