Cherry-sized (0.6″) hail hit parts of Lakeland during a storm on Thursday.
This was the second day in a row Lakeland has seen some rain.
National Weather Service meteorologist Tony Hurt said Lakeland remains in a drought and is 2 to 4 inches below the average for this time of the year.
Polk County is currently under a burn ban because of arid conditions.
Hurt said in the next few weeks, Central Florida should begin its summer pattern of afternoon showers.
