On June 16, 2024, at 10:45 p.m. LakelandPD officers responded to a burglary at the Providence Reserve Apartments. According to witnesses the suspect, Andre Davis, showed up at the victim’s residence and forced open the front door. Davis went into the apartment and then back out to the parking lot where he climbed onto the Victim’s vehicle and broke the windshield by jumping on it. He further kicked out a window to the apartment’s bedroom before leaving the area in his vehicle.
Davis was also wanted on an active Polk County Arrest Warrant for Violation of Probation (Felony Battery and Scheme to Defraud).
Davis was quickly located by officers in the 1100 block of 11th Street where he attempted to run on foot but was apprehended by K9 Oli. Davis continued to resist and struggled with officers trying to handcuff him. Davis grabbed one of the officer’s tasers, pointed it at them while trying to pull the trigger and pleaded for the officers to kill him. Officers were able to secure Davis before he could discharge the taser. He was charged with Burglary to an Occupied Dwelling (F2), Criminal Mischief (M1), Resisting Without Violence (M1), and Depriving an Officer with Means of Protection (F3).
