My little adopted Peaches from Polk Animal Control.
I had her on hold for two weeks till she made it to two pounds for spaying. I would show up unexpectedly to check on her. They didn’t like my visits.
New policies suddenly were in place. Put my purse in my car policy.
No pictures or filming. I was supervised even in the playroom.
I finally got to pick her up on August 2nd.
I gave her worm medication. I took her to the vet on 8/7.
She was too young for the boosters the pound told me I had to get for her.
My deworming her worked. No internal parasites. She had a yeast infection in her ears. I got medication for that. I have to take her back in two weeks for the boosters and another exam.
I saw the cats and kittens in that place and they were dying in that heat.
I thought I found one kitten dead but it raised its head up after nudging it through the bars of the cage.
When I picked her up they wouldn’t let me in the adoption area.
They stopped me at the gate while they got her.
I could see the cats across from the gate and they were just laying in there cages lifeless but alive.
It broke my heart.
Times I visited my Peaches I didn’t think she would survive the hold. She was so lethargic.
Now she’s affectionate and playful growing fast.
Eating and drinking great. I’m so happy I kept pushing them to get her weight up so she could be spayed and I could take her home.
Thank you for rescuing the other cats and kittens. I recognize a lot of them. If I could have taken them all home I would have.
Peaches is getting the best care I can give her.
She has a great personality far from the lethargic kitten that I wasn’t sure would survive that hold on her.

Changes need to be made. They know or they wouldn’t have supervised me or restricted me from entering the adoption area when I picked her up.

I placed a kitten on hold. After 3 weeks they were saying she still couldnt go home they were waiting untill they could get her spayed . the next week i called. They said she was in surgery! Yay! 20 minutes later they called back to say she was found dead in her kennel that morning from a uri. Not even an ounce of sorrow in that voice. How I wish I coud have taken her the day we adopted her. She would be alive now. Her name was Spaghetti
