It will take at least seven days to restore power to the remaining 35,600 Lakeland Electric customers who are without power this morning.
Lakeland Electric has more than 600 people in the field, including 500 line workers, tree crews, and damage assessors from utilities in Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Alabama, Wisconsin, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas, and other parts of Florida. That represents more than five times Lakeland Electric’s normal field operations.

Please help we are located at 1601 George Jenkins Blvd Lakeland Florida 33815. Majority of us are disabled receives social security and foodstamps. We have children, medical conditions and equipment that need power. Please we have no fresh water or food 😢. The office and street lights are on with power .The efficiency are on a different line that goes behind us by this we can’t be restored with lights until the streets and neighborhoods behind are restored that’s when we are restored. The food we have is bad and Majority of us have foodstamps we used and now we can’t eat and have to wait till next month to receive them again unless we have the program that’s in place for food reimbursement. No matter we still have to pay rent by the week or on a lease by the month. I am begging that please help it’s been over twenty four hours without anything. Paying and trying to buy food daily is so frustrating gas is so far and between the lines is so long and price gouging is happening. I’m disabled and I see some people don’t have any compassion and should be greatful we can see another day. Again we thank the light companies from close and afar that’s here to help. We appreciate the hours and not knowing if their families are safe law enforcement and keeping us safe . It’s not always about money from Majority of these business only playing on devastation and a individual circumstance or income or no place to go by the rent, housing market is ridiculous right now. It’s about humanity, compassion and just do the right thing. Again we thank you and thank you for listening.

Public Notice: Starting at noon today, essential supplies, including water and MREs (meals ready to eat), are being distributed at Sleepy Hill Elementary, located at 2285 Sleepy Hill Rd, Lakeland, FL 33810.
In collaboration with Polk County, Polk County Public Schools, Church for the One, Freedom Tours, and United Way, a Point of Distribution (POD) has been established to serve the northwest Polk County community. The POD will remain operational until supplies last.
