Ben and Gillian, high school sweethearts, are reunited when Ben returns to town after retiring from a successful football career. Fourteen years have passed since they saw one another but it’s immediately clear that they both still have feelings for one another. Their reunion is cold, but filled with passion that she doesn’t want to admit is there. There’s also the small matter of her son, her fourteen-year-old son, which everyone has always assumed is Ben’s….
The story is steamy, heart-wrenching, and heartwarming. The characters are loveable and the town treats everyone like family.
The dual point-of-view narration on the audiobook has a nice twist that while each chapter is from a different person’s point-of-view, the male and female narrators read their own parts. As in, even though it’s Ben’s chapter the female lines are still read by the female narrator. Before the P. Rayne & Piper Rayne books, I hadn’t seen this done before.
I’m highly looking forward to the next books in the series.
