Polk County Schools announced make-up dates for Hurricane Milton.
“To ensure that our students receive the necessary instructional time, we have changed six of our previously scheduled half-day/early dismissal dates to regular school days,” the district said in an announcement.
The following dates are now full days:
- Friday, Nov. 22, 2024
- Friday, Dec. 20, 2024
- Friday, Jan. 17, 2025
- Friday, Feb. 14, 2025
- Friday, March 14, 2025
- Thursday, April 7, 2025
Thanksgiving, winter and spring breaks are not impacted, the district said.
“We understand that these calendar changes may require some adjustment on your part. However, it is essential that we maintain our students’ progress and ensure they meet state requirements for instruction,” Superintendent Fred Heid said in a statement.
Heid asked for the support of parents to make sure students attend school those days.
“Together, we will overcome these challenges and continue to provide a safe, supportive and productive learning environment for all,” he said.
