The last book in the Housemaid series could have been better. This one left me wanting more and something darker. Without going into spoilers this was one of those stories where you are expecting to be thrilled, but then all you are doing is laundry and work. In this one we get another significant time jump as Millie now is married with children. She is settling into her job after finishing college and is just wanting to settle down in the house they just purchased. And of course, we know that won’t last long. This book made me think that the author ran out of ideas. Putting these characters into the two situations that were presented felt like a cop out to me. It was like the author just lost interest and didn’t know what to do. So, she chose to do what I have since been calling “the norm.” It’s something that multiple authors have done in the past. This book was lacking on all accounts.
