Avelo Airlines will stop providing two routes out of Lakeland Linder airport next year: Atlanta and Hartford, Connecticut.
Kris Hallstrand, the airport director, told city officials at Friday’s project update meeting that Avelo will stop flying between Lakeland and Atlanta as of Jan. 5.
“What’s happening here is they are re-evaluating their network and the routes that are working good are being kept, the routes that are not doing so hot are going away,” Hallstrand said.
The second underperforming route is between Lakeland Linder and Hartford, Connecticut’s Bradley International Airport (code BDL), which started on Nov. 8 with tickets priced at $72 each way.
“There is a lot going on in the aviation industry and Hartford, Connecticut, is under performing,” Hallstrand said. “New Haven has stayed very strong.”
