We want to clarify something. It’s time to wake up and stop the killing.
In the first 10 months of 2024, 1489 dogs were killed and 3087 cats were killed at Polk Animal Control. That’s 4576 animals.
That is over 457 animals per month.
We consider that a monthly mass killing.

Polk County, have you ever heard of Sheriff Ivey? How in the world can members of Polk County run a dog and cat mass slaughterhouse. This doesn’t sound legal or what the majority of citizens would agree to having done – A mass murdering God’s innocent creatures – very disturbing

I don’t see how they can justify this when people who hurt animals are church with animals cruelty as they should be and justify what they’re doing

Most likely they are not checking for microchips. My cat went out the door because my landlord left the door at jar and my male cat was never to be seen two and a half years ago. Endless posting, visits to nearby veterinaries and Polk County Animal Shelter yield no results.

What in the hell is wrong with you heartless people as well as you Sheriff Judd Grady??? Y’all are supposed to be the protectors and the voices for these innocent babies! They did not asked to be born so you can kill them, yes you heard me right, KILL them! We as rescuers are sick to think that you people including a man that is supposedly a leader of the people is behind these killings of these innocent animals and just looks the other way so his position is not jeopardized! Sheriff Grady, you stink as a leader when you can introduce programs and services to protect and serve these animals as well as you think you do your citizens of your county. There are so many other counties that could help you and show you how it’s done, why don’t you learn? Is it too hard or do you want to spend the funds on other unimportant things? There are so many other rescues in the state of Florida and the country as far as that goes that would help find homes for these animals! This situation is so unacceptable and it’s and your hands to make the change so sheriff Grady what are we going to do what you make the changes or once you kill more animals?
Yes, I wouldn’t mind for my taxes to go to a government program to keep the animals, like at Villa Libo on Pit Bulls and Parolees. They don’t put their dogs down unless they are too sick or are nit responding.
You obviously have no clue, Every county does the same thing. Blame the people and irresponsible pretty owners and breeders. Breeders who bread for profit and don’t make sure pets are going to good homes. As long as they have the money.

This is sad. Until people realize having a pet is not a whim and when it becomes “to difficult “ you just take it to a shelter or even worse, take it somewhere and drop it off. These are loving creatures that deserve better! If you are not going to commit to an animal for its ENTIRE life, don’t get one!!!

No one in their right mind would consider mass euthanasia to be a viable solution. I pray the people of Polk County wake up and see that you are obviously lacking humanity. Merry Christmas Jerk!
We need to organize and attend commissioner meetings and demand changes! That’s the only way these poor animals will have a chance.

I totally agree with you but first, we have to make them change the time the Commissioners meet. At 9:00 am, most people are at work. If Judd can buy a $5 million dollar stealth plane for the Sheriff’s Dept, he can spend money on the animals! He can hover over a house, count the heat sensors, and if they don’t have a pet he can deliver them one.
This needs to stop!! These poor animals do not even have a chance at life. It definitely is not their fault. Maybe you should euthanize the people who heartlessly drop them off because they are too much trouble!
Yes I like that. People are responsible for their dogs. If you don’t have them fixed, this is a lot of the problem. With every dog they should keep the name and address of the person that has these dogs.

All of them have real estate license and are responsible for the overgrowth in our beautiful county. They are charged to tell Grady Judd what to do. Judd is drunk with power and huge attention seeker. Too bad he’s starting look and act like an old lady. Little piggies can’t stop feeding. They won’t rein in Judd’s animal abuse.

This is just making me want to puke. I have raised thirteen cats and numerous dogs that I can’t even count. All of my cats live to be in their late teens and early twenties and the same with my dogs.
I can’t imagine you could dream up any excuse for this other than laziness.
Why are most of the dogs pitbulls or pit mixes? And there is never a good reason to kill a healthy animal. Plus TNR is cheaper than holding in a shelter. I have always admired Grady Judd for decades but now I’m going to have to rethink things.

Many people don’t commit to their pets they are loving trusting animals. We owe them protection and love not to treat them like objects you get tired of they are like our children we must commit to them for their life span.If you have a pet please have them spayed or neutered especially cats there are just too many being put to sleep.
What d o you expect in a world that no longer respects life. Babies killed before they are born, old people sent to nursing homes because they have outlived their worth to their families..na I’m not surprised people bitch but no nothing just a few of very overwhelmed rescues trying in a world were everything has gotten extremely expensive..want to help ? Send your money to local rescues and go adopt another cat, dog stop saying i have 1 or i can’t cause that’s no a good excuse
