Florida minimum wage workers to see pay increase later this year

The minimum wage in Florida will increase on Sept. 30 to $10.98 an hour for tipped workers.

For a worker clocking full-time hours, the extra dollar could amount to $2,000 a year before taxes.

This is part of a gradual increase that went into effect in 2021, with a goal of nearly $12 an hour by 2026.

The increase also goes for non-tipped workers. They’ll see a boost to $14 an hour, with a goal of $15 by next year.

Any employer that does not meet the pay requirement faces a $1,000 fine per violation. That money goes straight to the state.
