A lot of schools across Florida are already using a federal program to offer free meals to all students, but it’s based on the percentage of low-income students at the school. A new proposal making its way through the state legislature could soon provide free breakfast and lunch to all 2.8 million of Florida’s public school students regardless of their family’s income level.
The proposal is still under discussion and lawmakers are weighing in on its potential costs and benefits.
