Due to the lower temperatures, some local farms and markets have been seeing more visitors come out.
Fancy Farms Market in Lakeland is one of those places.
“The cold weather really sweetens those strawberries up,” Fancy Farms Market Co-Owner Kristi Barnes said. “It’s the best time to get them. Right now. Do not wait for the Strawberry Festival.”
The family-owned produce stand is known for its fresh strawberries and delicious strawberry desserts, like milkshakes and shortcakes.
“People love to come out, sit on the farm,” Grooms Barnes said. “The market is actually right here on our farm.”
Visitors can also grab lunch at the market. Menu items include Cuban sandwiches and shredded pork with strawberry BBQ sauce.
This local gem also sells jams made with family recipes.
Barnes explained that her parents have been farming in the area for more than 50 years.
“My brother and I want to continue that legacy, that farm legacy that my parents have built here,” she said. “We want to see our farm to continue growing.”
Fancy Farms Market is located at 5204 Drane Field Road in Lakeland and is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
