Lakeland Fire Department said about 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, a passer-by reported a fire at 929 N. Tennessee Ave., just south of Memorial Boulevard. Firefighters arrived quickly, but the fire grew fast to consume the entire two-story, wood-frame home and caused a part of the structure to collapse.
It was later confirmed that the property’s power had been shut off before the fire. According to the Polk County Property Appraiser’s Office, the property is owned by P&R Property Management, with a mailing address in Tarpon Springs. The home was built in 1925.
Public Works personnel arrived to assist with debris removal. By late evening, command operations ended, and the scene was cleared. No injuries were reported.
