SUN ‘n FUN Aerospace Expo is excited to announce that the Samaritan’s Purse DC-8 will be on display at the 51st Fly-In April 1-6, 2025. In addition, a portion of the organization’s Emergency Field Hospital and a water filtration system will be exhibited—both are frequently transported aboard the DC-8 cargo plane in response to crises around the world. The water; the filtration system wais specially designed by Samaritan’s Purse engineers to fit in one pallet position on the DC-8.
Samaritan’s Purse is an international Christian relief organization that executes critical relief missions in response to major disasters across the globe. They deploy the use of the only active DC-8 in the world, as well as a Boeing 757 to carry thousands of pounds of cargo and passengers to provide emergency supplies and support. Recently, the DC-8 airlifted an Emergency Field Hospital to Sudan where doctors and nurses are now treating thousands of patients who were displaced by conflict.
Since the organization first deployed the DC-8 in 2016, the cargo plane has carried over 8.79 million pounds of cargo on 200 missions to locations such as Haiti, Alaska, Mexico, and Italy. In addition to Emergency Field Hospitals, the DC-8 airlifts emergency relief supplies in the aftermath of devastating events, transporting relief such as shelter materials, solar lights, food, and medical teams.
