A 31-year-old Lakeland man has been charged with several crimes following a failed attempt to steal a lawn mower, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred in the early morning hours of March 10, 2025, when Austin James Fenimore trespassed on private property in Kathleen. Fenimore entered a structure and used bolt cutters in an attempt to steal a lawn mower. When the attempt failed, he stole the video camera recording his actions and took a pair of jumper cables.
A deputy printed a photo of the suspect from the security video and took it around the neighborhood, where a resident identified Fenimore. The deputy discovered that Fenimore was already in the Polk County Jail, having been arrested by Lakeland Police Department on March 17 for retail theft and possession of marijuana resin and drug paraphernalia.
Fenimore now faces additional charges from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, including burglary, loitering/prowling, petit theft, criminal mischief, and possession of burglary tools.
