Lakeland High School Announces Antonia Bennett as New Head Coach for Girls Basketball!
Lakeland High School is thrilled to announce Antonia Bennett as the new Head Coach of the Girls Basketball Program. With an impressive coaching and playing background, Coach Bennett brings a wealth of experience, leadership, and a championship mindset to the Dreadnaughts.
Coach Bennett has a proven track record of success at both the high school and professional levels. Most recently, she led the Lake Gibson High School Girls Basketball Program, where she rebuilt the team from the ground up, transforming it into a competitive force. Under her leadership, the program achieved multiple playoff appearances, including a historic Final 4 appearance—the first in school history.
Beyond coaching, Bennett brings professional playing experience, having competed internationally in Poland and France. Her firsthand knowledge of the demands and expectations of professional basketball will be invaluable in preparing student-athletes for the next level.
Her ability to develop players both on and off the court is one of her greatest strengths. She has helped numerous athletes reach their goals of playing at the next level while fostering a culture of discipline, teamwork, and excellence. As a result, she was named 2023 The Ledger Co-Coach of the Year and is a Florida A&M Sports Hall of Fame Inductee for her outstanding playing career.
Coach Bennett, a former MEAC Player of the Year at Florida A&M University, brings first-hand knowledge of what it takes to succeed at the highest levels of the game. As a player, she scored over 1,600 career points, earned two-time Team MVP honors, and was named Rookie of the Year in her collegiate career.
