Here are the stats from Polk Animal Control through April 2025. Improvement in the number of escaped cats since they fenced in the cat area so cats that escape cages cannot get outside, but the euthanasia numbers are still very high. 352.5 cats and dogs per month. That’s almost 12 per day. The cat adoption numbers for April were very high, I’m guessing because Rescue Cats and others are pulling cats out. Those pulls should be listed as transfers not as adoptions because it inflates animal control adoption totals. But at least they are being saved.
