WHAT: Roadway resurfacing as part of the City’s preventative maintenance program

WHY: To maintain road quality and extend pavement life through regular resurfacing
he City of Lakeland will begin resurfacing work on E. Main Street from S. Florida Avenue to S. Massachusetts Avenue as part of its ongoing road maintenance efforts.
- Milling operations will begin Thursday, June 12 at 10:00 p.m. and continue through Friday, June 13 at 7:00 a.m.
- Paving is scheduled to start on Sunday, June 15 at 10:00 p.m. and conclude by Monday, June 16 at 7:00 a.m.
The resurfacing process will remove approximately 1.5 inches of existing asphalt and replace it with a new layer of the same thickness. This maintains current road elevation and ensures smooth transitions at driveways and ADA ramps.
Work will take place overnight to minimize traffic disruptions. Roads will be reopened to through traffic during the day. However, motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane and managed by on-site flaggers. On-street parking will be prohibited during work hours.
