The Puerto Rican Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is merging culture and impact with a Hispanic-inspired sandwich competition, with proceeds going to scholarships for local youth.
The Puerto Rican Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has helped Hispanic entrepreneurs while also giving back to the Polk County community for 18 years. Their annual fundraiser always supports their Women of Lulac Scholarship, which supports minority students in underserved communities.
This year, they are bringing a different twist to their fundraiser “Festival de Sanguich.” It’s a play on Spanglish!
The festival will allow people to taste and sample three different iconic latin dishes – a Cuban sandwich, a media noche sandwich and a tripleta. Attendees will pick the top three sandwiches. The winners get their own awards and trophies, but the true winners are the students who will benefit from their annual scholarships.
The Dunedin Blue Jays will also be playing that night, so it’s a full family day filled with culture, impact, delicious food and sports!
Festival de Sanguich is Saturday, July 5th at 5 p.m. It’ll take place at Publix Field at Joker Merchant Stadium in Lakeland. Tickets are available here.
