Seattle-based fashion retailer Nordstrom Inc. has posted to its Facebook account the opening date for its new 30,000-square-foot store at Lakeside Village Shopping Center in Lakeland.
Doors open at 9 a.m. on Oct. 23 with festivities, including a prize drawing for a $1,000 gift card. Nordstrom Rack will officially take over the retail space previously occupied by Bed, Bath and Beyond in the shopping center.
Nordstrom Rack is the off-price retail division of Nordstrom Inc. Similar to its other locations, the new store in Lakeland offers customers both in-store and digital experiences. The retailer offers up to 70% off on its trendy apparel, accessories, beauty products, home decor, and shoes from many of the top brands that Nordstrom sells.
Nordstrom Rack expanding
In an earlier Ledger report, Gemma Lione, president of Nordstrom Rack, said, “We’re excited to grow our footprint in the Tampa market and introduce new customers to Nordstrom Rack.”
Lionello added that in this location customers will be able to pickup online orders from both Nordstrom.com and NordstromRack.com, and complete returns.
Nordstrom is expanding the footprint of its off-price division in Florida — and throughout the United States, according to an October 2024 report in Chain Store Age.
In addition to the Lakeland location, Nordstrom Rack will open a 24,000-square-foot store in fall 2025 at The Avenue Viera in Melbourne and a store at Pine Ridge Square in Coral Springs, the report said. Nordstrom Rack will open in spring 2026 at Sarasota Pavilion in Sarasota.
Nordstrom currently operates six Nordstrom stores and 19 Nordstrom Rack stores in Florida. Nordstrom Rack is the largest source of new customers to Nordstrom, the company said.
Nordstrom Inc. started as a shoe store in 1901, and now has more than 350 Nordstrom, Nordstrom Local and Nordstrom Rack locations.
More tenants for Lakeside Village
In addition to the Nordstrom Rack store, Lakeside Village includes retailers such as Kohl’s, Books-A-Million and Belk, along with CMX Cinemas.
According to a Continental Realty Corp. press release in June, Lakeside Village has at least five new businesses that were recently added or will be occupying 11,000 square feet of retail space in 2025 at the shopping center. Several of them include:
- J. Crew Factory opened on May 15. The retailer offers a collection of discounted fashion for women, men and children in the space located to the right of Fish City Grill.
- Sola Salon Studios is expected to open a group of leased beauty suites and it will be the new upstairs neighbors to businesses Jos. A. Bank and Amelia Paige Boutique.
- Waxing the Cityoffers skin care such as Brazilian waxing and waxing of facial and body hair, and brow and lash tinting.
- Patriot Growth Insurance Services helps promote business growth and safeguards personal assets and goals through risk management and insurance solutions, among other services.
Lakeside Village is owned and managed by Continental Realty Corp. Main thoroughfares nearby are Harden Boulevard and Polk Parkway. The 460,000-square-foot regional shopping center is located at 1479 Town Center Drive in Lakeland.
