Polk County Animal Control – Florida IS SIMPLY HORRENDOUS

If countries like Mexico, Panama, and India can protect their most vulnerable animals, why can’t Polk County, Florida?
This map shows the heartbreaking statistics of how many innocent, healthy, and adoptable animals are being killed right here in Polk County. This is a tragedy and a shame.
The responsibility does not fall only on Polk County Animal Control, but also on the Polk County Commissioners, who continue to ignore the urgent need for change.
Mexico has enshrined animal welfare protections in its national constitution, a move hailed by advocates as a global milestone.
The changes prohibit mistreatment, extend protection to all animals, including those raised for food, require animal welfare to be taught in schools, and give the federal government power to legislate on the issue.
The reforms pave the way for a forthcoming General Law of Animal Welfare, Care, and Protection, which is expected to cover farming, research, wildlife, and companion animals.
