TWO Delta passenger planes collided in a terrifying smash at New York’s LaGuardia Airport – ripping the wing off one jet and injuring a flight attendant.
The CRJ-900 regional jets, both operated by Delta subsidiary Endeavor Air, clipped each other around 9.56 pm Wednesday while taxiing at low speed.

The collision involved Endeavor Air flight 5155, bound for Roanoke, Virginia, and Endeavor Air flight 5047, arriving from Charlotte, North Carolina.
Shocking footage shows the aftermath: one plane’s wing torn apart, the nose of the other visibly dented, and passengers stranded as emergency vehicles swarmed the tarmac.
A CBS News producer on board described the horror moment his plane was “absolutely smashed.”
“We were taxiing to our runway and we got absolutely smashed by another Delta flight… I don’t know if we hit them or they hit us, but it was super jarring,” he said.
“Everyone shot forward in their seats. It was a little chaotic; we were shocked at what happened.”
The collision involved Endeavor Air flight 5155, set to depart for Roanoke, Virginia, and Endeavor Air flight 5047, which had just landed from Charlotte, North Carolina.
No passengers were hurt, and a flight attendant, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, was taken to the hospital just as a precaution.
Photos and videos captured the chaos – flashing lights from fire trucks and police cars, crew and passengers herded onto the tarmac, and the crumpled wreckage of one jet’s nose.
All 85 passengers were forced to deplane and bused back to Terminal C.
Delta confirmed they were offered food, hotel rooms, and will be rebooked on new flights today.
A Delta spokesperson said: “Delta will work with all relevant authorities to review what occurred as the safety of our customers and people comes before all else.
“We apologize to our customers for the experience.”
LaGuardia officials confirmed the incident did not disrupt wider airport operations.
The smash comes amid mounting safety concerns in the aviation industry following sweeping job cuts at the Federal Aviation Administration under Donald Trump’s administration.
Insiders warn the slashed staffing levels are leaving pilots and passengers dangerously exposed.
One FAA employee told Politico earlier this year: “Air traffic controllers cannot do their work without us.
“To put it frankly, without our team… pilots would quite literally be flying blind.”

It’s the latest in a string of disasters hitting US skies: a deadly crash at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport killed 67 in January, a small plane in Alaska went down days later, and two private jets collided in Arizona in February.
One whistleblower said the FAA’s Obstacle Data Team, which logs skyscrapers and power lines to prevent collisions, has been gutted to just eight staff nationwide.
”A building could be mapped in the wrong place or the wrong height. It’s not far-fetched,” the insider told the Daily Mail.
”We’re talking about the destruction of lives and airplanes.”
Federal investigators are now probing the LaGuardia crash.
