Walmart EV Charging Network Enters Florida

The Walmart EV Charging Network enters Florida with the opening of its first DC fast-charging station in the state, marking another milestone in its expansion.

The newest site is located at Walmart Supercenter, 3501 S. Florida Ave., in Lakeland, Florida. It features four ABB A400 chargers (400 kW), the same as those used in Arizona. Walmart’s other hardware supplier is Alpitronic with the HYC400 model.

Each ABB charger has two ports for a total of eight stalls. Half of the connectors are CCS1, while the other half are NACS (SAE J3400) for maximum compatibility.

According to Landon (@TheArkeTraveler / X), who is tracking the rollout of the Walmart EV charging network, the price of energy was set at $0.46/kWh. The Walmart app is essential for initiating a charging session and paying for the charge (a payment method must be set up for the user account). Credit card terminals are not available.

With 13 stations in five states, the Walmart EV charging network now probably has around 100 stalls in total. Most of the chargers were deployed in Texas. By 2030, Walmart plans to deploy thousands of chargers.

Georgia is the next state in line to receive Walmart’s first 400-kW chargers. However, Texas remains the state with the highest number of “coming soon” sites.
