Tigers’ pitchers and catchers officially report to Lakeland, Fla., on Feb. 11. The first full-squad workout will be Feb. 15, although players participating in the World Baseball Classic are asked to arrive no later than Feb. 12.
The Tigers open the Grapefruit League season on Feb. 21 at Tampa against the New York Yankees. Their home opener in Lakeland, Fla., is Feb. 22 against the Baltimore Orioles.
This spring is the Tigers’ 61st consecutive season at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium and 90th in Lakeland. That’s the longest current relationship between an MLB team and a host city.
Detroit’s final Florida-based game will be March 21 against the Yankees in Lakeland. The Tigers will then head west for two exhibition games on March 23-24 in Scottsdale, Ariz., against the Colorado Rockies before opening the regular season on March 26 in San Diego against the Padres.
The home opener in Detroit is April 3 against the St. Louis Cardinals.
