In FY25: 𝟭,𝟱𝟱𝟲 𝗰𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗱
From 2023 to FY25, the number of euthanized cat bodies sent for medical research has more than tripled.
This is the equivalent of ~𝟰 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝘀 𝗮 𝗱𝗮𝘆, every day they are open, for a full year.
Cat cadavers go to Bio Corporation (a company that provides cadavers/specimens to educational institutions).
Bio Corporation pays $10 per cat cadaver to the PCSO.
Even if 20% of these cats were sick or injured (which would be an unusually large percentage), that means that 80% were healthy street cats or socialized adoptable cats and kittens killed for no reason and then sent to a lab for money. $10 each body.
No Kill statistics average that 10% of animals who enter shelters are either too medically compromised or too behaviorally compromised to be put up for adoption. So a 20% unadoptable rate would be a very high percentage but lets use that unknown percent for this post.
THAT MEANS 1,245 cats could have been TNVR’d and returned to their outside homes or adopted out for inside homes. Over 100 per month.
This also begs the question, what animal control bucket does the $15,000+ acquired off the bodies of these cats get applied to? No one can tell us the answer to this question.
The usual inept & corrupt administrative tactics. There needs to be transparency for this blood. money. It is common sense that if there is easy money to be made, less effort is made for TNR & adoption.
Disgusting.
Street cat sterilization program would reduce the problem. It would also be more humane. Feral cats are a big nuisance in my neiborhood. The sellers of my current home just abandoned their two cats. A comment practice I have learned.
Where is the money? Who will.make these people accountable?
This only proves what the administration regardless of the organization has been doing with no regard to the welfare of animals or the emotional stress and loss of people’s pets.
This is wrong you don’t kill something to put money in your own pocket or do with as you see fit. Someone needs to step up get their hard out of there ass stop drinking the damn koolaid and do something, make changes for the better of animals.
