Patriots prefer honest competition in elections—not coronations. In fact, the monarchy system is part of WHY patriots fought for our freedom! Primary elections are intended to be competitive—may the best person win! BUT what happens when the Republican Party of Florida and/or the State Legislators decide to ensure you as voters DON’T get an honest choice?
Case in point: HB91 “Candidate Qualification,” which sailed through the state house and senate in late February. At first glance, the bill seems simple, BUT HERE IS THE REST OF THE STORY. The first part of the bill is intended to distract you from the true goal: the State Legislature used your taxpayer resources to target ONE candidate for exclusion from the primary election ballot in 2026: Matt The Welder, aka Matt Taylor, a Republican. Matt filed to run for Florida Agriculture (Ag) Commissioner in October as Matt The Welder, his nickname. The state refused to accept his candidate paperwork, stating that unless he legally changed his name, he could not list himself as Matt The Welder on the ballot. SOOOOO, Matt Taylor legally changed his name to Matt The Welder. Almost simultaneously, House Reps Tant and Campbell (both Democrats) filed HB91 that states, “…That the person has not legally changed his or her name through a petition pursuant to S. 68.07 during the 365-day period preceding the beginning of qualifying.” This language is explicitly intended to exclude Matt from your ballot! Here are few more fun facts: On 2/10/26, the Republican Party of Florida held an “emergency” meeting to endorse the current Ag Commissioner, Wilton Simpson for the position—AND HE HAS NOT FILED TO RUN! It’s just evidence of more shenanigans for your awareness.
What a GIANT and shameful misuse of your taxpayer resources!! Can you believe it? And the persons pushing this garbage legislation are Democrats—aided and abetted by the Republican Party of Florida. Why???? Because the party establishment and democrats want to hand-pick who can be on your ballot! They SAY they support competition, BUT their actions demonstrate their truth, and it’s outrageous!
