A Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) helicopter made a precautionary landing earlier today, Sunday, March 15, 2026, while responding to a bomb threat at Posner Park in Davenport.
The landing occurred after the pilot reported a mechanical warning light, prompting an immediate but safe descent into an open area near the shopping center. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the aircraft was not damaged.
Incident Details:
- The Threat: Law enforcement responded to a bomb threat targeting the Posner Park shopping complex. Out of an abundance of caution, several stores were evacuated while deputies and K-9 units conducted a sweep of the area.
- The Landing: The PCSO helicopter was providing aerial support for the ground units when the pilot noticed the warning indicator. Following standard safety protocols, the pilot landed the helicopter in a nearby field rather than continuing the mission.
- Status of the Scene: As of this evening, the bomb threat at Posner Park has been cleared, and no explosive devices were found. The shopping center has since returned to normal operations.
Maintenance crews are currently inspecting the helicopter to determine the exact cause of the warning light before it is cleared to return to the PCSO hangar.
